Closet Organization: Sneak Peek

Earlier today, my client stopped by on her way to another destination.  She dropped off both a fabric sample and the name of an online website for an eyeshadow color that she didn't plan to wear, but wanted me to use as a reference for the paint that is being considered for interiors of the closets we are working on.  I loved that!!!  It's an example of how inspiration can come from anywhere, anytime.   And, the best part of this brief visit...she gave me an idea for this weeks Tuesday Tip!

Inspiration:

Sneak peek into our progress last week:
She did the first sweep.  We did the second one together, which is what you see below.  And over the weekend, she has been doing what I like to call "The Brutal Fashion Show".  Try on every item.  Clothes, belts, shoes, scarves, etc...and strike a pose in a full length mirror!  Be brutally honest about what fits, what makes you feel and look good and what you are actually wearing. This exercise usually weeds out the last few remaining items you were unsure should stay or go. I should mention there are two other closets that also contain her clothes!  In addition, we are working on the linen and coat closets.  Shown above is what, so far, will be donated.

The goal is to get them all to fit here:

To be continued...

  3. This is the kind of transformation I love to see. I felt so proud just to clean up my closet that I wrote a post on it a while back. But didn't take it a step further and do the brutal fashion show! Would love it if my closet could look like the inspiration closet you featured. Can't wait to see the end result.

  4. How lucky she is to have your help on this. I could benefit from an impartial eye as I tackle my own mess of a closet! I need to clean out mine in a serious way....more space just seems to = more junk! And, love that she found her color inspiration in an eyeshadow! It surprises me that people leave their closets builders' white when they paint the rest of the room.

  5. My closet is a disaster zone and I know I need to do something about it. Our closet is actually small plus it has a huge window in it that takes up a lot of much needed wall space. I did not think this through very well when we built our house.

  7. Wow! I so need to clean out my closet...even moving didn't force me to purge as much as I should've. Last weekend I did another quick sweep and donated 3 bags of clothes, though I suspect I probably could've (and should've) doubled that....

  12. Can I burn everything to avoid the try on, and just go shopping and buy a new wardrobe? Ha, nope, I know that is not the way it works. I need to do this!~
