Autumn, Oh Joy!!!

I don't know about you, but this has been one summer that I am all too happy to see come to an end. It  truly was the long, hot summer. Of late, there has just been rain. An insane amount of rain. It's going to rain again this weekend. But, I refuse to let it dampen my spirits because I know my favorite season and all the beauty it has to offer has finally arrived. And not a moment too soon!

When I think of fall, I think of crimson, green, gold, brown and most of all orange. All the tones of orange from the color of pumpkins to the deepest russest tones. If you ever wished you could do your whole house in autumn's most showy color, here's a little tour to welcome the season!
Welcome! Simple natural items are the best way to greet guests.

May I take your coat? A series of nature's art pop against this color!

Doesn't grandma's sofa look so fresh? Make yourself comfortable, pour a drink while....

I put the finishing touches on dinner.

The seasons bounty, hope you're hungry!

Shall we take a walk after dinner?

I enjoyed the pleasure of your company, but it's off to bed for me. After I read my book of course!
Happy first day of Autumn everyone!!!

  1. Hello Rebecca:
How wonderfully you have heralded the new season with these beautiful autumnal tones and tints. Although we are no fans of orange, when one veers into russets and ochres then we are with you all the way.

We have found your most stylish blog via Reggie Darling and have so enjoyed reading your eclectic and lively posts.

  4. Jane and Lance,
Welcome and thank you! I adore RD and his insights on all things historic and domestic. Orange does indeed tend to be color people have strong feelings about, both good and bad. It was my father's favorite color and I much prefer to enjoy it in nature or small doses. Although, I have longed for an orange velvet chair! Hopefully, these images make a case that it can be executed tastefully!

  5. Happy first day of Autumn Rebecca! I love this time of year too but it's warm, humid and rainy in the northeast. We're going to paint our front door the color of autumn and I can't wait it's just the pop of color this place needs!

  10. Lovely images! I've finally decided to embrace Fall...it's taken a while because we barely had a summer...it was as if spring and fall had joined together to keep summer out, but it did squeeze through every now and then so I'll just be thankful for what we did have and move forward (as if I had any choice in the matter).

  11. Well, it's not quite fall here yet....some days of less heat but still high humidity. I won't be happy until it's chilly! Sorry about all of the rain, you are right though, all is around the corner!

  15. Fun post; I felt so welcome!
I like orange, but as a child of
the fall colors in decorating era,
it's hard for me to go there. Sort
of like body suits, wide-leg jeans
and ponchos! (And yes, I did have
    a happy childhood : )
    Happy Fall!
    xx Suzanne
