After an unwelcome dusting of snow and this equally unwelcome and lingering cough and cold, my thoughts turn to anticipation of warmer weather and bright greens.

I can't think of an easier and better way to add green than with ferns. They are great indoors, especially when rooms need a little lift or a dull corner could use some life! I honestly can't remember a summer without Boston Ferns hanging from the porch or deck. Ferns love humid climates and plenty of shade which makes them perfect for southern gardens.

Ferns in one form or another are a wonderful way to add a bit of freshness to a room, especially in upholstery. I remember the most wonderful roll of fern wallpaper I found in a thrift store years ago, and covered all my shoe boxes in it.
ReplyDeleteHi R, I love ferns, they just evoke a feeling of calm. We always had Boston ferns around our house too, until we moved to this tree free lot! Now we have way too much sun. I love the fern fabrics and that headboard is so very clever!

ReplyDeleteAll my plans always die and I'm one of those horrible people who have fake plants because they just look so perfect all the time...!! But I LOVE ferns-I have rows of upstanding ferns in planters on my terrace and my new fern addiction indoors is the asparagus fern. Love the fern fabrics... very Swedish feeling.
ReplyDeleteI have two maidenhair ferns and I absolutely adore them, one day I hope to have a Boston. The image from BHG with the ferns in the crystal decanters really caught my eye when I first saw it...started me thinking about starting an antique decanter collection just to place fern fronds in!

I grew up with ferns in my house. My mother has this wonderful "fern stand" that belonged to my great grandmother....I'm hoping I'll get to enjoy it in my home one day.

I used to have cutains made out of a Martha Stewart fern print, similar to the top photo.For some reason,I traded them for a heavy duty juicer-I often regret that trade. ReplyDeleteRebecca I love to bring in ferns for the Spring/Summer months. I love love the first chairs print. I also love botanical prints of ferns. I passed up two prints that were in a mirrored frame a couple of years ago and I have kicked myself ever sense for not getting them. i am still on the hunt!! Kathysue
