The Divine, Mr. Devine

It's been snowing here in Virginia, not like the 3 blizzards of last winter, but still when you have 8.25 inches of heavy wet snow dumped in a few short hours, it's just no fun. My Crape Myrtle was splayed out on the lawn once again like a giant spider. I think I've saved most of it along with my Korean Lilac, but the Bradford Pear is history and a few others are not looking too good. The back yard has so many fallen limbs, it's resembles a a giant game of Pick-Up Sticks! The snow is falling again as I type this.

This looks like the perfect fabric for a Midsummer's Night soiree.

The mail man didn't get here until after dinner, so I didn't even bother retrieving the mail until this morning.  After shoveling yesterday, I spent some time nursing my aching wrist and knee and reading some of my favorite blogs.

Stylish, sophisticated and fun!
I was reminded I needed to send follow-up note of information providing additional details regarding some fabric samples. No need. Turns out yesterday was a really good mail day! In my box were the fabric samples I had recently contacted MDH about. His web site was being worked on, and I never got back to him on specifics. Instead he just sent me a wonderful sampling of the patterns I indicated I liked and plan to use for a current project. Excellent customer service and a little mind reading!

Samples of the collection at Maison et Objet, Paris 2008...
 add up to divine artwork!!!
Getting samples is always exciting, they're like getting presents....oh, and these were too...each one carefully wrapped in tissue, each one gorgeous! I am loving the collection, the designs are perfect for both traditional and modern interiors, hand made by local artisans.  Mr. Devine's fabrics were recently featured in Elle Decor as well as Southern Living. I won't tell you which ones I plan to use, I think it will be best to wait until it all comes together!

Have A Great Weekend!

  2. Dear A and A, How distressing for you that the weather has created such havoc in your garden. However, do not give up hope and do not say die for a few months yet as it can be very surprising how many plants and shrubs can rise from the dead.

The fabrics you show are indeed wonderful. Mr D is aptly named and I shall look forward to seeing the finished products ...'when it all comes together'.

  5. OOOh...saw the feature in Elle, can't wait to see what you do/choose...(and so completely over the snow, too much to even know what our landscaping even looks like by now...record breaking, infact!)

  6. Ugh, sorry about your weather. We are accustomed to lots of snow here but I never get comfortable with it. Love to look at it, hate to live with it. We are getting 20cm (8") in the next 24h, which is kind of nice on a Friday night as it gives one the excuse not to rush to the gym on Saturday morning!

Love being stuck indoors by the weather!

Love the MD fabrics also - wow! I checked out his site - they are so beautiful. Do share your projects with us!

  7. yes, so much snow in such a short time. I have to admit to loving it now, but I might change my tune now that you've reminded me of what its doing to our plants! Our cherry tree (NOT a weeping cherry tree mind you) is brushing the ground and looks like a fort. Usually the branched are at least 5 feet off the ground! My poor boxwoods can't even be seen! Boxwood pancakes!

  11. We are totally over inundated with snow - drifts I can't even see over. What a special treat you received - I adore his line - met him a party last summer (or was it the summer before) - a total charming delight! Aerin Lauder's bedroom is one of my all time favorites. Dying to see what you choose!

  12. We had an almost Spring like day here today and then they are calling for freezing rain on Monday. Aren't we all just so tired of this and ready for Spring??? Sounds like wonderful things are up with you. My first introduction to Aerin Lauder. Where have I been?? Can't wait to see what you do.

  14. Bradford Pear trees are horrible to split, we now know, but it is vigorous about coming back. You might be able just to prune it severely and work at reshaping it if you want to save it. Also, Crepe Myrtles are almost indestructible to zone 6 or so once established; it can be saved if you are up for another try.
