Peacock Blue, I Love You!

If you read my blog with any sort of regularity, it's no secret that I love aqua. But did you know that I've had a long standing love affair with peacock blue? I especially like adding it during the fall and winter. Toss in brown, green and cream and that rounds out the color palette for the main floor of my house.

Tissue box cover

Much like aqua, it pairs well with so many other colors such as red, purple, gold and orange. Today I found this trash can and tissue box cover.

The detail on the back!
I thought they were really attractive and fun. It may need to find a place in our library, to keep my favorite peacock blue velvet pillow company...

I am so behind on reading my magazine subscriptions, but last night I tossed and turned over this:

January 2011-Canadian House & Home living room
of designer Colette Van Den Thillart, Photographs
 by Chris Tubbs.

Her library/office/dining room! I once had a chair with the same
tray shaped back, sadly it became too wobbly to be of any use.
Maybe I need to find a new one!
And, today while sourcing fabric, I became obsessed over a cream,  green and peacock blue houndstooth. There must be something/someone that needs it. And, I wonder if Mr. A&A would be interested in a new wall color for his beloved brown library? Yes peacock blue, I am still so in love with you!

Have A Great Weekend!

  1. Now that library/dining room is amazing! I am in love with that blue too! I say go for it! As long as the books aren't harmed it's still the same place but lovely!

  2. Oh I think you would of liked our master bedroom when we lived in Seattle. I papered one wall with a dark peacock blue grass cloth. I turned out so stunning, especially when the sun would shine through the windows. I really do miss it but haven't found grass cloth like that again; at least at the steal I had found it that time. You gave us terrific inspiration; all gorgeous! Wishing you a fun weekend ~ Deb

  10. This is one of my all time favorite colors!! Love your pillow and of course Colette's house (love everything that comes out of Nicky Haslam). I'm seriously considering this color (in a high gloss) for my powder room.

  11. HI all...I thought it would be fun to let you know that it might look daring but we absolutely adore our peacock blue room, which is in fact stried with charcoal, and then has a high gloss lacquer finish to it. Thanks so much for mentioning me in your post!! Colette

    1. Hi Colette,

Is there any way you would be able to share the name of that gorgeous peacock blue paint colour?

  12. I'm so very drawn to Peacok Blue also. I have nothing with the color at all in my house, but one day...I hope to have a Peacock Blue velvet something or other...a chaise, love seat, chairs, pillows, drapes...who knows, but something!
I *love* that library image, it's stunning, especially with that green chair, that combo is a favorite too.

    I think Mr.A&A probably wouldn't mind a change at-all! ;)

  16. The unexpected color combinations do indeed have an interesting and pleasing impact. I guess it is the high gloss of the walls that saves it from being just a dark hole. I had long wondered about that fabric printed like a Venetian blind, so I was glad to see how it works on the bergere.
